Roberto Soldado’s protracted move to Tottenham is expected to be announced shortly, after the Spanish striker was left out of Valencia’s tour of the United States, reports The Metro.
The 28-year-old striker has found himself the subject of a club record £25.8million bid from the North London outfit, and has since been trying to agree personal terms with Andre Villas-Boas’ side.
Tottenham have been attempting to secure the signing of a big name striker since the beginning of the summer, having missed out on several targets over the course of the previous two transfer windows.
Tottenham fans were left concerned when Soldado refused to comment on speculation linking him with a move away from La Liga, although the deal is now expected to be announced within the next 24 hours.
Valencia president Amadeo Salvo confirmed the transfer has been agreed between the two clubs, and it is simply an issue with the player’s agent that is holding things up.
“The deal with Tottenham has been completed. A problem with Soldado’s agents has come up and the player will not leave the club until a solution has been found,” he told Spanish reporters yesterday.
Soldado bagged an impressive 24 goals in La Liga last season, and holds a record of six goals in 11 fixtures for his country.
